Introduction:
The Karmic Collective CIC is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for all individuals, especially children and vulnerable adults, in both community and educational settings. This safeguarding policy outlines our commitment to ensuring their well-being, preventing harm, and providing appropriate support.
Scope:
This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, contractors, and anyone associated with The Karmic Collective CIC It encompasses all activities and interactions, whether on-site, in the community, or during educational programs.
Principles:
- We believe that everyone, regardless of age or vulnerability, has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.
- We are committed to creating an environment that is free from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
- We recognise the importance of open communication and transparency in safeguarding practices.
Key Definitions:
- 'Children' Individuals under the age of 18.
- 'Vulnerable Adults' Individuals aged 18 and above who may be at risk of harm or exploitation due to age, disability, illness, or other factors.
Responsibilities
- All staff and volunteers must undergo a thorough background check (DBS) before engaging in any activities involving children or vulnerable adults.
- Designated Safeguarding Officers will be appointed to oversee and coordinate safeguarding efforts.
- Staff and volunteers will receive regular training on recognising signs of abuse, appropriate conduct, and reporting procedures.
- Any concerns, suspicions, or disclosures of abuse or harm must be reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Officer.
Prevention Measures:
- Ensure that activities and programs are designed with the well-being and safety of participants in mind.
- Implement a code of conduct for staff and volunteers, emphasising appropriate behaviour and interactions.
- Conduct risk assessments for all activities to identify and mitigate potential safeguarding risks.
Reporting and Response:
- Any safeguarding concerns must be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Officer promptly.
- The Designated Safeguarding Officer will initiate an appropriate and confidential investigation into the matter.
- If necessary, via mandatory reporting the Designated Safeguarding Officer will involve external authorities and agencies to ensure the safety of the individual involved.
Confidentiality:
- Information related to safeguarding concerns will be handled confidentially and shared only with those who have a legitimate need to know.
Review and Updates:
This policy will be regularly reviewed and updated to ensure it remains effective and in compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
